Cre8  is actively engaged in shaping the future of Low Carbon Energy through  a wide range of development projects ranging from those at a conceptual stage, though initial scoping and exploratory phases, to the established  major consortia including:

  • Pathways to a Low Carbon Economy
  • Urban Energy Systems
  • FutureNet - Future Networks
  • FlexNet - Flexible Networks
  • Integration Lab
  • Urban Buzz
  • Energy Management Systems

Cre8 can also provide techo-economic advice on both the impact and opportunities associated with the second phase of carbon trading under the European Union Emission Trading Scheme. This is a Europe-wide market in carbon dioxide emissions for major greenhouse gas emitting industries that commences from 2008 but which also presents funding opportunities for low carbon energy solutions and projects both within the EU but also in the developing world.

The scheme is based on the allocation of greenhouse gas emission allowances, called EU Allowances (EUAs), to specific industrial sectors through national allocation plans (NAPs) with oversight by the European Commission (EC).

The first phase of the EU ETS covers the period 2005-2007.

The second phase coincides with the Kyoto Protocol’s first commitment period, from 2008 to 2012 and forward trade market prices exist now.
